The Great Flood of 2008

We have had an exciting week--we are now completely moved into the West Cambridge site flat. We love it! We didn't have to turn on a single light until 8:30pm today! It is new and well-decorated. Basically everything our other flat was not. Todd's books even fit better, and none of his stuff is on the floor (Anna is pleased).

As a going away present, our Park Terrace flat decided to flood the night before the moving van came. It was rather exciting. Water was gushing in during heavy rain (the drain failed) and we had to bucket water out from the stairwell like it was a sinking ship. Todd had to strip down to just shorts and he frightened some sweet English ladies half to death as he and his hairy chest ran the length of Park Terrace saving flats that were unoccupied. In the midst of all this derring-do, he may have broken his pinky toe. Needless to say, we did save our stuff and we are happy to put the experience behind us. Our former flat is now a smelly swamp and the College can deal with gutting the carpet, etc.

We hope to post pictures soon!

  2. Wish I could have been there to help, but I probably would have chosen to be more properly dressed. Musn't scare the little old ladies of the neighborhood. You never know when one might be hit with an umbrella. :)
